Most of you Autodesk Partners know about this, but for those that don’t...
Utility Pack is a set of tools I wrote when working for Autodesk Consulting.
Autodesk made no commitment to support this – it is not a product – but almost all Partners that attended our FLC Bootcamps use it themselves, and some have provided it to their customers.
As the original author of this software, I have trained and mentored multiple Partners to use this with their customers.
For some that attended the earlier FLC Bootcamps, you may not be making the most of the recent version.
Automatically builds a website for your customer, showing all the relationships bewteen workspaces, automatic interactive schema models, fields details, grops, users, roles, etc.
Never document your tenant manually again!
Discover the automatic script change history, workflow change history, etc.
When your customer breaks something, find out what they actually changed!
This feature can be branded with your own Partner logo, and schema.
Are you building your own utilities to run SQL on a customer's database (or other table source), and using REST to synchronise with FLC?
I thought so! The Sync tools in Utility Pack can do this for you.
They calculate the difference bewteen a database query, and FLC, and update only those differences.
Differences are compared, optionally, with fuzzy logic to exclude false differences.
Save time with your implementations, synchronise automatically.
Work with your customer to help them understand usage of the tenant.
Who is doing what?
Automatically exclude automation users, administrators etc.
It's a ready-to-go preconfigured utility that you could be making use of!
Easily automate the extraction of FLC Reports for consumption by PowerBO, Kilpfolio, QlikView, Crystal Reports etc.
If your customer is using an existing tool to display a TV dashboard of "important IT stuff", why not include FLC data too?
Allow your customer to promote the importance of PLM within their company. Provide a FLC data feed to a TV dashboard.
It's a great talking point for any customer's implementation. And totally automated with some tools you already have!
ETL - extract, transform, load.
When the standard FLC Import Tool runs out of steam, there is a suite of different loaders you can be making use of.
Oh, and train your customers how to use it. These are all simple tools, you just need Excel skills.
Are you writing custom utilities for your customers?
Are you using ReST when you could be using simple javascript in batch?
The chances are that I encountered these same problems, and there is a tool that can do the job for you with a little know-how and config.
